Welcome to the World of Janell from BabyButton!

I wanted to start a blog to share funny stories, experiences and information mums might need or find interesting and today is the starting day. I am new to the whole ‘blog world’ but I am ready to get my feet wet and see what it is all about!

Now, I have an English Teacher friend and she says that my emails to her are written exactly how I speak! I do often find it hard to switch into work mode when writing to customers and remember that they are not friends and probably wouldn’t get that joke anyways! But for this blog I am going to write as I speak, share what I think and we shall see what comes of it.

Let me share bit of my life that have brought me to today. I was born and raised in California with 6 brothers and sister. (From the same parents and yes they are still together over 40 years later!)  I have lived in Europe (or as I’ve said ‘drank my way through Europe’) where I went for a semester abroad in Italy. (We will touch on that another time!)  After living back in America again after Europe, my sister told me  she and her husband would be moving to Australia for her work. I sat on her couch and said ‘oh that’s great, I’ll come too. I’ve always planned to live in Australia at some point. If nothing else they speak English which Italy didn’t!’ Within a few month I found a University to attend here in Melbourne, told my roommate I was moving to another Country, packed my bags, dumped my boyfriend and off to Melbourne I went!

I’ve now been in Melbourne for 4.5 years! It seems longer some days. I met my husband Jay 3.5 years ago when I was hired to work at the pub he managed. (His business partner hired me to meet him!)  Jay and I have our daughter Addison (Addi) who turns 2 on New Year’s Eve! We just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary and live in what I would count as ‘Country-like’ suburb because it takes ages to get to the nearest mall! BabyButton began 2 years ago in March thanks to my mother’s group! I graduated Uni with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Science and I am a certified Personal Trainer. Most days I am fulltime mummy except for my 2 days of daycare which then switches to my role of “work at home mum” (WAHM) which I am very passionate about too.

So there you have it, a little background in an express form! I have many of stories from the different places I’ve lived, roommates I’ve had and the life that I lead.
